Most websites treat the keyboard focus ring as something to hide. It’s the opposite: a clear focus state is one of the friendliest things a site can do, and it costs almost nothing.
Why it matters
Anyone using a keyboard through preference, injury, or assistive tech — relies on the focus ring to know where they are on the page. Remove it and the site becomes a guessing game. WCAG 2.2 even tightened the rules here, with new criteria for focus appearance and for focus not being hidden behind sticky headers.
So on this site the focus ring is deliberate: a solid, high-contrast outline with a little breathing room around it. Tab through the page and you’ll always know exactly where you are. That’s the bar every site should clear.
